What I'm Running to Protect
Our Democracy
New Hampshire’s motto is “Live Free or Die.” I take that to mean that we fight for the sanctity of everyone’s right to vote and participate safely in our elections, free from harassment. Every person has a right to live their life with equal protections and dignity. Our democracy is under serious threat from voter suppression, dark money in politics, foreign interference, and AI-generated information or misinformation. I will support measures that protect and strengthen our democratic institutions.
Women’s Reproductive Rights
As a physician who attended to women in the most vulnerable times of their lives, including infertility, lost pregnancies, and difficult health choices, I staunchly defend a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health decisions, including access to safe and legal abortion. Women’s reproductive rights are human rights and must be guaranteed by codification in the New Hampshire State Constitution. I oppose any attempts to restrict or undermine reproductive rights and will work to ensure access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare for all women, regardless of their economic status. When elected, I will join efforts to codify women’s reproductive rights and protect women and physicians from prosecution or unconstitutional travel bans while seeking abortion care.
Our Environment
I believe our natural environment must be protected in order for Campton to thrive and sustainably grow into a community that supports year-round affordable living. Currently, our State Department of Environmental Services is undertaking a climate action plan which I firmly support. But we need qualified individuals without conflicts of interest appointed to all our regulatory agencies that impact our environment to ensure they are working for our future and not exploiting our resources.
Public Education
From a young age, my parents impressed upon me the importance of education and the effect it can have on a family’s security. We need to invest our public tax dollars in our public schools and teachers to provide a quality education to every child. Education is the key to a future workforce, technology innovation, successful entrepreneurship, and affordable healthcare. It all begins with accessible, quality education for every child, regardless of their family’s income or address. Voucher programs have a history of only helping those who can already afford private school while breaking state budgets.
Affordable Housing
New Hampshire suffers from the lack of affordable housing. In Campton our young adults are especially affected by this problem, and it puts a strain on our ability to attract and maintain a stable workforce. The state should incentivize the construction of starter homes and not just multi-million-dollar mansions. Working hand in hand with our local elected officials, the state must create a framework encouraging more affordable housing.
Public Safety
Gun violence is the leading cause of death in children in the United States and the increasing violence in our country must lead us to take action. There is no reason for civilians to possess semiautomatic weapons. I believe there should be a ban on the ownership of assault weapons, and we should pass common-sense gun regulations like red flag laws and ghost gun bans.
